“Mexico is now OPEN for travelers!”
The dazzling cultural extravaganza is again open for travel (as of November 8th) to welcome tourists back. Contrary to the popularized belief that Mexico is too dangerous to travel to, it is one of the most magnificent places filled with lush beaches, popular attractions, and outstanding cuisine.
If you are making early 2022 plans, Mexico is one place that you cannot miss out on. If you’ve been traveling across borders, you don’t need any introduction on why heading on a trip can be transformational – in several aspects. Even if you are a first-time traveler, Mexico is an ideal place to get started. What do you need to know?
There is no need for any negative PCR test or spending days in quarantine on arrival, and your accommodation might seek out information regarding your health. However, if you are returning to the United States, you will need to take a negative Covid-19 test within one day of departure regardless of your vaccination status.
Travel Arrangements
The Mexican visa policy determines how a foreign citizen is accepted, and citizens from over 60 countries can make it visa-free for travel purposes from 30 – 180 days. However, all visitors will need an FMM tourist card to enter the country regardless of the visa policy and jurisdiction.
There are currently no restrictions from any countries from entering the country. Also, if you need to verify documents and be accepted in the country and embassy legalizations, you will need to get prior assistance.
What to expect?
If you are picturing magnificent beaches and tequila, allow us to widen your horizon. There are so many exciting things to do in Mexico, and the beaches are picturesque, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to spend some time relaxing but Mexico’s more than that.
The beaches are extravagant as always but there’s more to Mexico than the beaches
You have the opportunity to explore in terms of adventure, cuisine, and a cultural extravaganza to discover.
Here are five exciting things to do, leaving the beaches aside.
1 Go trekking in Sierra Norte
Escape the reality into something completely unhinged high up in the mountains
There are eight beautiful villages on the mountains that are not governed by any government or jurisdiction. Get help from a guide to hike up and feel the heat disappear as you go further.
2 Dip in Hierve el Agua
A scenic waterfall that comes together in the middle of two cliffs makes it a natural infinity pool. Hierve el Agua is a perfect destination for a dip and snap a few moments for Instagram.
3 Get the local food cuisine
From burritos to tacos, the list of Mexican food that you could try out is endless
Mexico is the home of various flavors and ingredients. The culinary choices are so ample that you might get confused about where to begin.
One of the best ways to get the entire experience is to sign up for a food tour. Food tours are organized daily, and with a few chats with the locals, you’ll soon be on your way to the local street food restaurants and inside information on hidden gems.
4 Cycling around Mexico City
Explore the city on two wheels for an unforgettable experience
One of the best attractions in Mexico is around Mexico city. There is beautiful architecture, streets surrounded by flowering trees, and more to explore.
And the best way to do it? By cycling.
The hotel you are staying in should have bikes to use. Otherwise, you can easily find a rental within a 100m radius for a very reasonable price.
5 Explore Chapultepec Castle
Get a bird’s eye view of the city from the top of the castle
Bringing back the feels of the French, the Chapultepec Castle is a must-visit sight in the Chapultepec Park in Mexico City. Situated on a hill, you’ll get an unparalleled view of the entire locality from there.
Pro tip: If you can make the trip by bicycle, it will be one breathtaking journey.
